Frank Wesley Smith, Jr.
Frank Wesley Smith Jr., 72, affectionately known as “Junior”, of Detroit, MI, was surrounded by his family in Dallas, TX, when he was peacefully called home on September 9, 2022. Junior had a short battle with cancer and he won the fight as he is now cancer free! Furthermore, he would tell you he just had “a little cold.” Junior was born to Frank Sr. and Marie Smith on November 4, 1949 in Daytona Beach, FL. After attending Eastern Public School in Detroit, MI, Junior went on to serve voluntarily and honorably in
the U.S. Army in the Infantry. His family will remember him as a man’s man who loved a good cup of coffee or even, a not so good cup of coffee. Junior enjoyed holding conversations with friends and family and although he had a mental illness, he did not let it stop him from enjoying life. He was a joyful soul who loved singing, listening to the Commadores and The Temptations, and dancing. Junior was a son, brother, uncle and cousin who always cared for his family and watched over them. His distinguished laugh and smile lit up the room causing everyone around him to smile. He valued hard work, honesty, and a man keeping his word. His sister’s adored him and to them, he was always loving and fair. He made sure to instill his values in them as well as the importance family relationships. Because he was the first born and the only boy, to Frank Sr. and Marie later in their life, they cherished him. Frank and Marie proceeded him in death as well as his loving Sister, Marilyn (Rick) Smith-Hardy. Frank leaves to cherish his memory his devoted sister, Carolyn (Jerome) DeJarnette, Aunt Racile Lester, seven nieces and nephews, Damon (Daeshelyn) DeJarnette, Lakita
(Kevin) Moore, Aaron Smith, LaKesha (Jamal) Williams, Temple Smith, Lakira
DeJarnette, and DeVonnte’ DeJarnette; Nine great-nieces and nephews Aaron, Jordan, Kyler, Ayanna, Jamal Jr., Gregory, MaKaylah, Kaleb and Kaden; one great-great niece Mya and nephew Sire and a host of
relatives and friends.
